Death: Scorpio’s Ruling Card

Scorpio’s ruling tarot card is Death, the Major Arcana card of endings, transformation, and necessary change. The pairing comes from the Golden Dawn correspondences, and it fits: Scorpio is the fixed water sign, the one that holds emotional intensity steadily enough to see a transformation all the way through instead of flinching halfway. Death describes exactly that process. Something has run its course, the ending is overdue, and the renewal only starts once the ending is complete.

The card almost never predicts a literal death. It marks the close of a chapter, a job, a relationship, or an identity, and Scorpio’s whole temperament is built for that terrain. Where other signs read Death as a threat, a Scorpio can read it as home ground.

When Death appears in your own spread as a Scorpio, treat it as your significator first and a prediction second. Ask what the reading says about you before asking what it says will happen.
